The Parish Churches of Hormead:
St Mary’s Little Hormead is confirmed in the Domesday Book in 1086 when it served both Little and Great Hormead. It is famous for having one of the oldest doors in the UK. It also displays Charles I coat of arms, indicating Royalist sympathies in the Civil War.
St Mary’s had its own priest until 1870. Regular use ceased in 1995 but six services a year are still held in the Church. The Churches Conservation Trust now looks after the fabric.
In the autumn of 2014, Little Hormead resident Len Rogers was interviewed on BBC’s 3 Counties Radio show highlighting interesting facts about the village and St Mary’s Church.

St Nicholas Great Hormead is a 13 Century church, restored in 1873. It is a rural church in the centre of an attractive country churchyard in a conservation area. An extension consisting of church room, kitchen and WC, added westwards from the tower in 2008, has provided modern facilities for welcome, training and community use.
